I am currently serving on the STTI Board of Directors in the role of secretary. I am a member of Tau Kappa At-Large. At the chapter level I have served in a variety of leadership roles including vice president, president-elect, and president.
I have worked as a nurse educator for the past 20 years and am currently the Associate Dean for Health Sciences at Excelsior College in Albany, NY, USA. In my current role, I provide leadership and coordination of the College’s health science degree programs. Prior to joining Excelsior College, I was the associate dean for the School of Nursing at the State University of New York, Empire State College and was the Associate Dean for Regulatory and Governmental Affairs at Excelsior College in Albany, NY.
I earned a PhD in educational psychology and methodology from the SUNY University at Albany, a MS degree in nursing from The Sage Colleges, a BS degree in nursing from the SUNY College of Technology, and a diploma in nursing from Albany Medical Center School of Nursing. I hold certification as a nurse educator from the National League for Nursing.
My areas of expertise are competency-based education, clinical performance assessment, public policy and the regulation of nursing education, and community health nursing. My research has focused on adults in nontraditional learning environments as well as assessment and measurement of clinical competence.
During my over 25 year career in nursing, I have worked in a variety of clinical practice roles including staff nurse, community health improvement coordinator, director of a college health service, homecare nurse, and wound ostomy and continence consultant.
